Bianca + Varun

Planning a wedding from afar isn’t always easy, but Bianca and Varun made it effortless.  This gorgeous couple chose to be married in Portland to give their guests an ultimate vacation experience and boy did they deliver!  We started the morning in the back lot of Eastside Exchange where family and friends gathered for the celebratory Baraat featuring Pips Donuts and the groom atop a gorgeous white horse.  Guests continued the celebration inside to the Indian Ceremony where they were met with brightly colored floral from Blum and gorgeous programs from A Tie That Binds.  After the ceremony guests made their way via hosted shuttles to Cerulean for lunch.

Bianca and Varun made a quick outfit change before spending their afternoon downtown shooting photos with Bryan Rupp and video with Couture Motion Pictures.  After photos guests gathered at The Old Church where a second ceremony was officiated by Father Larry and piano played by the bride's childhood piano teacher Ms. Kara.  After the ceremony ended the party headed back to Eastside Exchange where guests enjoyed cocktails and the gorgeous Portland views from the roof.  Downstairs in the ballroom the reception space took on anthropology feel with ivory on ivory linens, multicolor glassware from Classic Vintage Rentals, and the cutest wooden table numbers.  We repurposed the mandap from the Indian ceremony in to a lavish sweetheart table for two and jazzed up the cake table with a fun textured linen.   The couple pulled out all the stops for their guest including a fun photo booth, handmade s'mores from 1927 s'mores, late night pizza served from the back of a food truck courtesy of Tastebuds PDX, and a night of dancing thanks to the Essentials and Chad Dowling.  Bianca and Varun wanted their guests to fall in love with Portland as much as they had, and after this party I am positive they did!  Congrats Bianca & Varun.  It was truly a pleasure helping you plan this wedding and I can't wait for you to come back and visit!

Melissa + Crary

Melissa and Crary’s wedding day was nothing short of a fairytale.  The couple was married at Eastside Exchange surrounded by their closest family and friends on a gorgeous August day.  Their ceremony was heartwarmingly officiated by a close friend of the couple before guests were whisked to the rooftop to enjoy the beautiful Portland scenery and cocktails named after the couple's dog.

During the reception guests enjoyed music by Event Team Entertainment and were encouraged to capture their wedding night fun via selfie sticks provided by the couple.  They danced the night away lit up by glow stick accessories.  Sweet toasts from family, a gorgeous cake from Dream Cakes, and a fun surprise late night ice cream treat from Fifty Licks punctuated the night!

Reliving this gorgeous navy, cream and pink wedding through Moving Pictures and Powers Photography brings back all the warm fuzzies from this stellar wedding.  I had such a blast getting to #meetthemasseys and we wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Kristin + Josh

From her first meeting with Kristin and Josh, Meghan knew their wedding would be classy, modern and lots of fun! Kristin started off her day surrounded by her bridesmaids in flannel shirts- a true Portlander- before getting into her gorgeous couture gown. The couple chose Exchange Ballroom for their wedding day and it fit their style perfectly!  Their beautiful ceremony faced the Portland skyline on a perfect fall day. After a fun cocktail hour filled with delicious concoctions and games, guests made their way back to ballroom where a wonderful dinner was served by Vibrant TablePost-dinner, guests filled the dance floor as Dancehall Days started up the party. Taking a break from the dancing, guests flocked to the Scoop ice-cream truck parked outside. Huge congrats to these two!

Hannah + Ben

Hannah and Ben are meant for each other. They both love to be surrounded by friends & family, laugh and dance the night away. When planning the wedding with Elizabeth, these things and many more were key elements in their wedding day. Hannah and Ben pick the Exchange Ballroom for their wedding. They wanted something, simple and modern with a light/open feel to the space. The Exchange Ballroom provided them a perfect window backdrop into the city for their vows. As the light flooded in through the windows, Hannah and Ben said "I do."

The couple's vision was set from day one. Hannah and Ben knew exactly what they wanted - a clean, natural rustic look. From the flowers to the table scape, their vision was perfection. The reception tables were adorned with colorful print napkins from La Tavola, beautiful blue goblets and antlers from Something Borrowed and natural flowers from a family friend. There were gorgeous lush garlands full of different greens and herbs adorning the bars, cake table, and on top of mirrored signage throughout the venue. Some of the fun details included a variety of semi-naked cakes from Dream Cakes and the large balloons behind the bar that spelled out "cheers,"  Everything cake together perfectly!

Remember that amazing surprise FLASH MOB PROPOSAL?  That was Kate and David.  For Bridal Bliss planner, Kirsten, it was clear from the start that planning their wedding was not only going to be great fun but also that it would be distinguished by a level of thoughtfulness that is frankly inspiring.  Kate and David chose the EXCHANGE BALLROOM AND CASCADIA ROOFTOP for the setting of their wedding celebration.  Elegant cream and blush floral arrangements from ZEST set the tone for a classy affair, while Kate and David’s adorable nieces brought appreciative laughter in their roles as flower girls!  The warm sense of family was strengthened throughout the ceremony, officiated by Kate’s brother-in-law, and I’m sure each guest felt included in the establishment of their new family.

Denise + Danniel

The day before Denise & Danniel’s wedding was the most beautiful day a couple could ask for. Clear skies, warm weather, picture perfect for their gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the Cascade Rooftop at the EXCHANGE BALLROOM! But on their wedding day, this amazing couple was unfazed by the smoke, haze and clouds that filled the sky because of the nearby fires. Instead, they were consumed by the love they shared for each other and their family and friends that traveled near and far to share this day. A tasty summer buffet from VIBRANT TABLEfueled guests to dance through the evening. A mixture of music allowed everyone from children, grandparents, and Brazilian friends to dance the night away!

Best of Bride 2015

Last week we had the honor of attending OREGON BRIDE MAGAZINE’S annual Best of Bride Party at one of Portland’s newest event venues, THE EXCHANGE BALLROOM & ROOFTOP!  Every year they outdo themselves with unique details and the most cutting edge designs…and this year was no different!

Best part?  Bridal Bliss was named “Portland’s Best Wedding Planner” and “Portland’s Best Day Of Coordinator” of 2015, for the SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR!  We are beyond thrilled and so appreciative of everyone that took the time to vote for us and keep our streak alive.  The magazine holds an initial vote, narrows it down to finalists and then the wedding industry makes the final decision.  That makes the awards so much more meaningful!

KIRSTEN showing some love to Laura from MOVING PICTURE WEDDINGS!

This team busts their butt for each and every client.  While there are many perks, being a professional wedding planner is not always glamorous (I will not get into details!).  To receive a little recognition for everything we do behind the scenes really means and lot.  Who doesn’t love a pat on the back?  This team of strong, talented and FUN women is truly amazing and inspiring.

ELIZABETH with Anna & Nicole from OREGON GOLF CLUB–one of our favorite venues, and a big winner of the night!

It was so fun to watch many collaborators in the industry accept well deserved awards (including ANNA’S BRIDAL!), and to catch up with old friends.  Portland is so lucky to have such talented wedding professionals! Oregon Bride brought in POISON WATERS to make the announcements and to say she was a riot would be an understatement.  She had us in stitches!  What a great party–thank you Oregon Bride and congrats to all of our fellow award winners and nominees!  Also–thanks to each and every one of you that took the time to vote.  Your love and support over the years is genuinely appreciated!

Ethnic Inspiration Shoot

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with an amazing team of wedding professionals to pull together a vibrant INDIAN themed inspiration shoot at a brand new Portland Venue, THE EXCHANGE BALLROOM & CASCADE ROOFTOP.  We typically do not participate in inspiration shoots often, but this was too exciting to resist.  Both OREGON BRIDE MAGAZINE & STYLE UNVEILED jumped at  featuring our shoot on their blog.  Check out our video by MOVING PICTURE WEDDINGS and  photos below to learn a little more about where each vendor’s inspiration came from.

From KIRSTIE WIGHT (the hair/makeup artist): To create our model’s Indian inspired makeup and hair, I chose a timeless look packed with drama. For all Indian women, it is about the eyes and this shoot was no exception. I used coral, gold, and dark brown eye shadow to create a smokey but colorful look.  I then lined the eyes with black kohl and added full flirty lashes. For the rest of the face, I added a soft gold highlight to the cheek and a bright pop of raspberry pink to compliment the beautiful saturated colors of the brides bouquet. I kept hair simple by adding a bit of curls then I gently swept the hair up in to a romantic up do that perfectly framed our models face.  She was as stunning as the shoot was!

From BRIDAL BLISS (the planner): Recently we toured a brand new rooftop event space and were immediately inspired.  The last few seasons, neutral tones like creams and blushes have been all the rage with our brides.  Although this is a beautiful palate, it is always fun to utilize stylish bright and vibrant colors.  With such a fab urban background….we really wanted something that would pop, have an edge as well as a big wow factor.    We pulled together our“Dream Team” of local Portland wedding professionals and realized many of us have Indian weddings this coming season.  Thus, the idea for an ethnic inspiration shoot was inspired.  From the bold colors, to the unique backdrop. to the elegant place setting, to the whimsical popcorn bar…everything came together perfectly.  Enjoy!

From Food in Bloom (the caterer):  We were so honored to participate in this Indian Inspired photo shoot partnering with Bridal Bliss and other top Portland vendors.  At Food In Bloom, we pride ourselves on our custom created menus and proposals, different for each client.  We make everything from scratch at our kitchen using only the best fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients.  Hence when we have clients requesting Indian themed cuisine, we love to create something very special.  For the photo shoot, we created some Indian favorites: the vegan samoas served with tamarind chutney, tandoori skewers served on a traditional banana leaf, chudwa (an Indian trail mix), spice platter, mango lassi and non-alcoholic pomegranate sparkler.

From BRYAN RUPP (the photographer): I was really excited to be involved in this shoot because I knew the vendors and their work well, so I knew bringing these people all together under the same vision would be amazing, and it was.

I was also excited to shoot at the Eastside Exchange, it’s a new venue to Portland and it’s a very well done rooftop venue.  I was inspired by the view of the city and the feeling of being outside so high up, there’s nothing like being on the rooftop of a building with a spectacular view of downtown.

I was inspired by the pale wood of the venue mixed with the bright colors and elements of the shoot.  The view of course was breathtaking, as was the light, and the models did a really amazing job.

Overall the shoot was a huge success, had a lot of fun behind the camera and connecting with the models and other vendors.

From Zest (the florist):  Pale color palettes have been all the rage for the past several years, and we wanted to showcase something fresh, vibrant and colorful.

The inspiration for this shoot came from our love of Indian weddings. They are just so beautiful, bright and happy. And they usually include a bit of decadence paired with a lot of color, neither of which are bad things in our mind!

When we heard about a hip new rooftop venue opening in downtown Portland, the vision of a modern, urban, colorful, Indian-inspired theme came to life.

The mandap, for example, felt very modern-eclectic. Strands of bright, colorful carnations and roses adorned the mandap, while white chiffon and a hanging chandelier added a contemporary edge.  Ghost chairs and gold Moroccan poufs offered a chic mix of nontraditional seating; and colorful rose petals and a mix of chic lanterns softened surroundings.

The tablescape also embodied a fun mix of modern and traditional elements. Decadent florals in vibrant hues featured roses, garden roses, gloriosa lilies, anemones, ranunculus and jasmine. Lavish gold vases, candles and bowls of oranges added interest and meaning to the tablescape, while ghost chairs and stylish stemware added the perfect contemporary touch.
