Martha + Jody


I knew from the moment I met Martha and her mother Betsy, that this wedding would be a dream! The classic, elegant details fell together naturally. Martha and Jody live in Boston, so we worked together remotely.

Three months before the wedding, news broke that the Royal Wedding would happen on the same day. For many, I think this news would be sad, but Martha & Jody weren’t phased at all. If anything, the couple was happy to have a smaller spot light on them. Friends and family flew in from all over the United States, Canada, and Europe to attend so there was a whole week worth of festivities to celebrate.

Portland always has an unpredictable spring, and sure enough the weather was questionable right up until the big day then cleared and blessed the wedding with the perfect amount of sunshine. Guests were able to enjoy the golf club grounds before and after the ceremony.

Since the Portland Golf Club inside space has such a big, open floor plan, we created a temporary, elegant wall between the ceremony area and another space where all the dinner tables were set so guests could experience each part of the wedding without seeing what was coming next. The space was transformed from classic ceremony, to partial outdoor cocktail hour, fine dining dinner, then party dance floor. My favorite detail of the night was the mini maple syrup favors we placed at each place setting (the groom and his family are from Canada).

Of all my years coordinating weddings, I’ve never hear better toasts! The maid of honor, best man, parents of the groom and father of the bride all gave heart-felt, kind, well-spoken toasts to the happy couple. It was clear from the stories they told, that Martha & Jody are meant for each other and are surrounded by love and support. It was such a pleasure working with both the couple and their incredible families. Heres to your next adventure together!
