Barn Wedding

Kate + Matthew

It was so much fun working with Kate and Matt on their special day. Since the bride is in the "business" she was prepared with her ideas and vision from the get go and knew as soon as she saw it that Scholls Valley Lodge was the perfect place to bring her wedding vision to life.

Luckily for all of us, we got a beautiful sunny day at the end of April and were able to keep the ceremony and reception outside. Kate and Matt really wanted to add their own personal touches to the wedding from the groom making the arbor, to a friend making the bar and Kate's mom (who happens to be a florist in LA) handling all of the flower arrangements. Guests were treated to a grand pan of paella made onsite and the bride's favorite - donut desert wall!

Jedel + Salil

This was such a magical, colorful, beautiful day to be a part of! I always love a cultural ceremony, and in this case, I got to see two. Jedel & Salil chose to hold their dual celebration at the gorgeous Barn Kestrel in West Linn.  Dylan Howell was on hand throughout the entire day to capture every exciting moment.

After being pampered by the talented artists at Blossom & Beauty, Jedel and the girls headed over to prepare for the Hindu ceremony. The beginning of these elaborate rituals is a Baraat, where the groom is escorted by his entire family to present himself to the bride’s family. We had Pedicabs on hand to bring the groom down in style. We then moved our way into the gorgeous tent provided by Peter Corvallis, for the catholic ceremony. The bride and her bridesmaids carried stunning bouquets created by New Seasons Market, who also provided the flowers for the entire event. The couple were married by Father Kevin Yell, under a beautiful mandap set by Bowerbird Events.

Once the ceremonies were finished, guests transitioned into the barn for cocktails provided by Heart & Honey. Vibrant Table Catering was busy to transform the tent into a beautiful reception space for dinner, provided by Swagat.  After an amazing series of toasts, guests headed back into the barn. They were treated to an amazing coconut/cardamom cake made by Papa Haydn.  Then, the party was ready to start! Precious Byrd came up from Bend, OR. to treat guests to a an evening filled with energetic dancing.  This couple was so amazing to get to know.  They have so much love for one another and the families that they’ve both gained. Jedel and Salil, I wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness together!

Liesl + Erik | Portland Wedding | Oregon Event Planning and Design | Brittany Lauren Photography

Liesl and Erik had a relaxed approach when it came to planning their wedding last November. They gave us their "must-haves," and then passed off planning to the fantastic team of vendors. Their vision included Oregon-inspired aspects for their out of town guests to enjoy, a killer brunch, and a cannabis feature.

With a brunch wedding at Barn Kestrel we had to make the most of what the space had to offer. As guests arrived in the morning, they were greeted inside the barn with coffee and pastries prior to being seated on wooden benches for the ceremony.  The aisle was adorned with various rugs from Classic Vintage Rentals. The altar, created by Blum, arched over the couple as they said their vows.

Cocktail hour took place in the garden outside of the barn. Devil's Food served up mini quiches, fruit and cheese platters, and "Bloody Mary Jane's" (made with Cannabis-infused vodka). After cocktails, guests made their way back into the barn where Erik's father's band was playing. Guests enjoyed fried chicken, crispy potatoes, and salad. Dinner was served on long wooden tables decorated with mixed china and colorful glassware. Guests were free to return to the garden where they could play poker with a cigar, or visit the weed tent that featured a budtender and an ice sculpture bong. A family friendly area included activities for the little ones and lounge areas for the adults. The lounge vignettes from Classic Vintage Rentals were especially unique, as they consisted of specially upholstered, colorful cushions among handmade benches. The evening concluded with the newlyweds leading a 4:20 smoke break, promptly followed by the presentation of a mini coffin of Voodoo Doughnuts.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your day, Liesl and Erik!

Margaret + Brad

Margaret & Brad were married at LONG FARM BARN this last summer.  This venue is naturally gorgeous, and the barn adds such a fun element for dancing.  This couple and the mother of the bride worked with ELIZABETH and definitely made sure no detail was overlooked!  Fun fact…both the bride and groom are basketball players and the groom even plays pro!
