Jen + Robert

I had the pleasure of working with my husband’s cousin Jen and Robert. They wanted a party with NW rustic vibes with a splash of glam and they are huge music fans!

The ceremony was held under the gazebo which we referred to as the “manger” because without anything that’s what it looks like.

I added draping to both sides (that was interesting as I had never done that before but it all worked out with a staple gun – ha). The florists (family friend) added 3 statements pieces above where J + R stood and the guests were provided wood benches to keep the NW rustic vibe.

The reception space was transformed by Bridal Bliss and the Lovely Night team (CORT setup the draping Thursday).

The tables were covered in navy linens accompanied by a wood round in the middle of the table. On top of the round were two glass vases filled with moss and white candles. We added a single blush rose and one white dahlia that laid level with the wood round to complete the NW table scape.

Seeing my family laugh, dance, drink and be happy all afternoon and evening made for a successful event and I was so honored to be a part of it!!

Cara + Micah

Cara & Micah's wedding was breathtaking on a typical PNW September day - we had sun & warmth, clouds AND rain.

They spent the morning getting ready together with their adorable pup before taking photos at at the venue.

After photos, it was time for the ceremony. The weather held and they were married outside on the venue’s Bocce Ball Court.

With the indoor and outdoor options JM Cellars provides, we were able to make a last-minute decision to move the reception inside, which turned out to be just as beautiful.

Guests were treated to a lovely buffet meal by Herban Feast, had the opportunity to visit the caricaturist for a fun drawing of themselves, all while mingling and cheers-ing to the couples favorite songs.

When it was time for dessert, guests were treated to a cronut bar. And if you’ve never had one before, I can tell you they are delicious!

It was a gorgeous September evening at JM Cellars!

Kari + Sharat

When you first hear the words, 'married in my parents' backyard' there so many thoughts and questions that run through a planner's mind.

The biggest one, are you sure?  In this case, the answer was YES, and we could not have asked for a more perfect space or weekend for Kari and Sharat.

In keeping with the theme of the weekend we wanted the wedding to feel beautiful and classic, but also relaxed and fun.

Guests made their way down to the waterfront where they were wowed by the incredible backdrop, and flowers by the talented, Eleanor Blackford of Bash and Bloom.

Kari and Sharat said I do in the same backyard as her parents had years before, and by the same officiant, making it an even more special celebration for their families and loved ones.

Following the ceremony we invited guests to mingle as many had traveled to the celebration while enjoying cocktails and light bites from the Lisa Dupar team.

As the sun began to lower we moved into the tent for a water-side dinner capped off by a round of toasts and well wishes for the couple.

The laughter continued with lawn games, ice cream & pie (A la Mode), a homemade dessert - provided by the bride's mother, Lisa, a traditional Norwegian Wedding Cake which tasted even more incredible than it looked.

Guests left with personalized sunglasses (such a fun touch for this sunny July wedding), full bellies - pizza from local favorite Pagliacci capped off our night of eating, tired feet from the hours of dancing (music provided by Rudy of the RudEvents), damp hair (for some) from a late night dip in the lake and smiles are on the their faces.

So incredibly happy for this amazing couple. Kari and Sharat thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!

We loved working with Bridal Bliss, and our incredible wedding planner, Molly Corr. Molly’s skillful organization, positive attitude, flexibility, and calm demeanor took the stress out of wedding planning. Savitha + Ted

I first met Savitha a few months before her big day.  She was one of the most calm and relaxed brides I have ever me.  She wanted to keep the entire weekend of celebration stress free and uncomplicated for both herself, her finance Ted, and their families.

JM Cellars was the perfect venue for the style of wedding they were looking for, laid-back elegance.  Savitha chose simple details to enhance the beauty of the space, selecting locally grown flowers and romantic color palette.

Stadium Flowers added gorgeous flowers to the arbor where Savitha and Ted said their I-Dos.  My favorite moment (as it frequently is) was watching as  the ceremony came to close, joining not only the couple in this case, but also their families, with five kids between them - such a special moment for them all.

Following the ceremony guests were welcomed to the rock garden for wine and bites provided by Herban Feast before moving into the Wine Library for dinner.

Guests dined, and listened to heartfelt toasts before moving into the barrel room for dancing!  Although it was a cooler than anticipated summer evening the room was kept warm by the very full the dance floor and celebratory energy.

Congratulations Ted & Savitha, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

Mallory + Serkan

When you have known the bride since she was a toddler, it makes planning a wedding that much more special. Going into 2018 I had a feeling Mallory and Serkan's wedding was going to be one of my favorites - not only were they planning on saying their I-Dos at the beautiful Bella Luna Farms in Snohomish, WA (with some amazing vendors I might add!), but it also would host guests from all over the country including some Mallory and I both had known for decades.

And just as I had anticipated July 14th was the perfect day for this special bride and groom.

They were married by a dear friend and surrounded by loved ones.

The sun shone down on these two as they stood beneath an arbor created by venue owner, Pamela Thompson.

Following the ceremony guests were encouraged to wander the property while nibbling on bites provided by Upper Left Catering and serenaded by Tyler Edwards and company.

As guests said goodbye to the iconic goats (always a hit during cocktail hour!) they were then seated under our pitched tent where they were served an amazing family style dinner.

As dinner came to an end, guests were entertained by several hilarious and heart-felt toasts.

We capped the night with cake provided by Cubes bakery, dancing (with music provided by the fabulous, Ben Meadow) under the star wrapped a-frame, and a late night snack of stone-fired pizza (another perk of this unique venue) before the couple was whisked away to the cozy hay loft for the night.

Thank you to our amazing photographers, Kim and  Adam of La Vie Photography for capturing this magical day.  And to Mallory and Serkan, it was truly an honor to be a part of this special time in your life, I look forward to celebrating with you both for years to come!

Megan + Jack

Jack & Megan are two of the best people. I have had the privilege of knowing Jack (and his family) pretty much my entire life as he has been good friends with my younger brother since Kindergarten. They went on to High School together at Seattle Prep where Jack met Megan. Megan has a glowing personality and contagious smile - which captured Jack early on. They played it cool as friends for a few years, but finally gave in and have been together since. When you meet these two, it clicks. They truly are meant to be together. They are both down to earth, hard workers and value every person in their life. Planning their wedding was truly an honor.

We dove into planning two days of events. Jack & Megan wanted to get married in the backyard of Megan's grandmothers house. They loved the idea of getting married in the gardens, walking barefoot on the grass and saying "I do" at the same place Megan's parents were married many years ago.

We planned a fun Spanish inspired night for their families and bridal party on Friday. It included amazing music from Rio Con Brio, a Spanish themed menu from Paella Works, craft cocktails from Perfect Pour and a sweet ending with pies from Yippie Pie Yay

The following day, we planned a large reception at AXIS Pioneer Square. They couple had a quick vow renewal - but kept it lighthearted and fun. The ceremony felt personal as they selected upbeat music and had everyone dancing down the aisle to kick off the ceremony.

Guests knew immediately they were in store for a fun night. From there guests were treated to delicious drinks & appetizers from City Catering while we worked to flip the room for dinner. Fun note - Jack owns Aslan Brewing, so the beer was of course amazing!

The room was designed perfectly. Crimson Haze strung cafe lights over the dinner tables, which were adorned with hanging greenery by Eleanor from Bash & Bloom

Everything was bright, cheerful and full of life - just like Megan & Jack. Following dinner Megan & Jack cut into an amazing 5 tier blackberry cake from Sweetside then hit the dance floor. Yogoman kept the dance floor pack spinning vinyls into the night.

Favorite details included the seed packet escort card display, the strategic placement of the cake in the art gallery (how fun!), and Jack's amazing lion shirt. What a weekend and what a pleasure to plan with this amazing couple!

Annie + Colin

When you meet a bride who has both incredible style and is extremely organized, you just know her wedding is going to be amazing. That is how I felt the first time I spoke with Annie on the phone.  She had a clear vision of she wanted out of the event, and I was so excited to help her execute what would turn out to be a fantastic weekend filled with love and celebration.

Annie, Colin and their families selected SoDo Park by Herban Feast as their venue.  And although most couples who get married there play up its industrial look, Annie chose to bring a different aesthetic to the venue.  Her vision, which included a neutral palette of whites, nudes and grays brought both an elegant and modern feel to the space.

Guests took their seats under a canopy of white fabric streamers illuminated by dozens of candles, before our bridal party including Annie's niece and nephew (who were complete show stoppers!) made their way down the aisle.  Annie in a gorgeous Luly Yang gown and her dad followed, Colin's dad, Jed officiated this special moment, in what was arguably one of the best ceremonies I have ever heard.  My personal favorite part was when he asked Annie's parents and his wife to celebrate the connection of their families - something I had seen throughout the planning process, and a very special moment for them all.

After an emotional ceremony, guests were ready to celebrate!  Cocktails were enjoyed before we moved into the dining room which had been beautified by the talented Flora Nova team, rentals from both Cort and Fanciful Rentals, and paper goods by Robinson Paperie.  As our amazing dinner, provided by Herban Feast came to a close, we enjoyed several toasts and a heartfelt thank you from Colin and Annie.

Our next event - cake, was made even more special as Annie changed into a custom-designed Luly Yang jumpsuit (that was to die for!).  Our cake was cut and the dancing began!  The 9's killed it, with guests only breaking for a quick picture in the Photo Booth or a snack break - Dick's Burgers!

The night ended much too quickly, as I had so much fun helping Annie and Colin bring their vision to life.  I feel truly lucky to have had an opportunity to work with such an amazing couple, one whose lives are already filled with so much happiness and love.

Kelly + Brenden | Seattle Wedding | Oregon Event Planning and Design | Matthew Land Photography

As a someone who 'works in the industry' people ask me all the time what my favorite wedding was.  Last summer was especially challenging to pick as some of my dear friends were married (in some of my favorite venues, with some of my favorite vendors), however for those of you who know me best, you know how close I am to my family, which made July 22nd a very special day for me.  Not only was my cousin (closest in age to me, and my first real friend) Brenden, married to amazing woman, someone I also consider a best friend, but I also had the honor of planning their wedding, not to mention celebrating with all 30+ members of our family! | Seattle Wedding | Oregon Event Planning and Design | Matthew Land Photography
