Katie + Evan

I hope one of the things we carry forward, when we are months and years past this time of isolation is how important our loved ones truly are, and the value in time spent with them. I had the absolute joy of working with Evan (who is my cousin!) and his fiancé Katie (who is also a dear friend!) to plan their March 21st wedding. They approached their wedding as they do most things in life, thinking less about themselves and more about those around them, as they envisioned throwing a party for their family and friends. Although I have no doubt that Katie and Evan’s 220 person Alderbrook Wedding would have be filled with love and joy, the celebration it turned into was possibly one of the most heartfelt events I have ever been a part of.

As the world began to dramatically shift in the weeks before their wedding, Katie and Evan were forced to make big decisions, and never did they falter in the consideration of their loved ones. Ultimately we made the hard choice to cancel their large, social (and likely a bit cozy!) wedding, which was heartbreaking for all. The bright light however, was that Katie and Evan still wanted to get married. March 21st was their day.

Katie looked gorgeous in her custom gown (hand sewn by her aunt!) and Evan, so handsome in his green velvet tux jacket. It was a relaxed day, one captured beautifully by Stefan and Audrey. Katie’s brother officiated, and the happy couple said their “I Do’s” surrounded by parents and siblings on the deck of Katie’s sister’s home in Olympia.

Following their vows, we surprised them both with a virtual cocktail hour (click here to watch!)! Guests donned their at-home wedding attire, poured a cocktail of their choice, and toasted to the newlyweds from their own homes!

After an hour of tears and laughter, the celebration went offline as Katie and Evan had a delicious dinner catered by Jean-Pierre’s Three16 and celebrated the rest of the evening with their family.

To see the looks on both Evan and Katie’s faces I knew that it was so special for them, they had each other, they had their families, and (virtually) their best friends. The day which once was all about their guests, became all about them, and it was the best, as we were able to shower two selfless people with love! (And I cannot wait to plan their 1-year anniversary party!)

XOXO, Molly
