Poorni + Akash

Indian weddings are not only incredibly fun to attend, they are a thrill to plan! KATY had the best time working with Poorni, Akash and their parents to plan the perfect Indian wedding weekend. With over 400 guests in attendance, the PORTLAND ART MUSEUM could not have been more fitting for such an affair. The Fields Ballroom set the tone for the elaborate ceremony, with a white horse leading the groom during the Baarat, a traditional processional, throughout the park blocks literally shutting down the streets of downtown Portland. GERANIUM LAKE FLOWERS created a beautiful aisle with alternating red and white petals in a pattern leading up to the mandap, a traditional Hindu structure used for wedding ceremonies. Upstairs in the Grand Ballroom, East India Company along with the amazing service of DEVIL’S FOOD CATERING provided food and drink for the guests as they dined on traditional Indian cuisine. Each guest was gifted a hand painted elephant candle holder as a favor, symbolizing strength and wisdom. Uplighting and paisley print lighting against the walls gave the room an even more glamorous vibe where guests danced the night away by music provided by DJ PRASHANT. This wedding is featured in the newest issue of PORTLAND BRIDE & GROOM!
