Hillary + Daniel

If I had to use one word to describe Hillary and Daniel's wedding day, it would be romantic. If I could add in two more, I would say HOLY HEAT! When the couple had to postpone their summer 2020 wedding due to COVID, they patiently rebooked to June 27, 2021. Never in a million years (quite literally) did the thought of blazing temperatures cross anyone's mind. I remember talking about rain contingency plans at a late spring walk-thru...silly us! Fast forward to the week-of, and Hillary had Amazon Prime dialed with all the paper fans, umbrellas, cooling rags, spray bottles and electrolyte packages a girl could get her hands on!

All 115 degrees of scorching heat aside, the day was absolutely well worth the wait. Hillary and Daniel are two of the coolest people I know - fun, down to earth and quite simply just good people. They were such a delight to work with, sincere and thoughtful in everything that they did. They were such good sports with the challenges we faced, and I kid you not Hillary did not look like she sweat even a drip throughout the entire day!

When Hillary first visited Villa Catalana Cellars, she knew immediately that it would be the perfect venue for their big day. With architecture inspired by a 12th century stone church in Spain's Catalonia district, rolling vineyards and picture perfect ponds filled with lily pads and koi, the property truly feels like you have been whisked away to a romantic vineyard setting in northeastern Spain. The ceremony took place in the stone amphitheater, built into the hillside overlooking the pond and estate. It was rustic, it was intimate, it was perfect!

Guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner under the most perfectly lush grape arbor, with just enough shade to help keep guests cool. Hillary and Daniel leaned into the spanish theme and had Crown Paella cook the prettiest (and most delicious) large batch paella on-site. Chef Scott Ketterman gave a brief education of Paella to guests prior to inviting them to enjoy the feast.

Now you would think in 115 degree weather that guests would come, eat, and leave. Not this group! The dance floor was filled throughout the evening, with hand-held misters being tossed about and frozen washcloths hanging around necks. For much of the evening the venue even turned on its sprinklers for the guests to run through!

If you can endure wedding planning through COVID, and then deal with the hottest day on record on your wedding day, you know that this marriage is ready for anything! It was such a pleasure to work with Hillary and Daniel and get to know them through this crazy planning process. I wish them nothing but the best...and maybe some cooler temperatures in their future!

XOXO, Mackenzie
