Nora's 40th!

For those of you who don't know, I met Nora about 16(+) years ago at a friend's wedding that she had planned. I remember harassing her as she was unwrapping sparklers for the send off, asking if I could help. She graciously declined my offer (probably because I was THAT guest), gave me her business card, said to enjoy myself and email her if I really wanted to start assisting. I emailed her the next day, and well the rest is history- she hasn't been able to get rid of me since! We've been through it all; marriages, kids and all of life's ups and downs, she's like the sister I never had and always wanted. Had enough of the mushy stuff? Read on.

Fast forward to about a month before Nora's 40th birthday, we were casually talking about what she wanted to do, and in typical Nora fashion, she didn't want a big deal orto be the center of attention. I immediately sent Tyler (her husband) a text asking what his plan was and before he could even answer- started thinking of the perfect evening for my dear friend. I also asked Nora what her ideal birthday would be (if she didn't have to do a thing) to which she replied "an intimate dinner with family and close friends."  So after some begging, (and I mean begging), I got the green light to be completely in charge of planning Nora's birthday party- without her knowing any of the plans.

The night couldn't have been better! Ironlight just happened to be opening that same weekend for a private event and we immediately took advantage of the opportunity to host one of the first events in their new exquisite space. It was perfection.

As guests arrived, they were greeted with delicious appetizers, signature cocktails and tunes provided by Event Team Entertainment.  A long table seated 40+ of Nora's closest friends and family.  Lush white floral with loads of candles filled the table along with chic black sequin linens from La Tavola, rentals from Bridgewood and Classic Vintage Rentals and an incredible dinner by Art of Catering. 5 cakes (yes, 5!) joined, designed to match the linens and theme by the ever-so-talented, Johanna from Dream Cakes.

Beautiful signage and custom laser cut place cards were provided by Hey Halle along with menu cards by Crave Design.  I think one of my new faves is the 360* photo booth from Limelight- it's like what you see on the red carpet but so much more fun! It was an epic night for an epic lady! A HUGE β€œthank you” to the entire vendor team - you knocked it out of the park!

Nora - I adore you and love you like the sister and probably annoy you like one too! Thank you for letting me plan your epic birthday party (even though we joked it was mainly mine) and don't forget- I'm always going to be one year younger!

XOXO, Katy

Sometimes it gets a little crazy when we film our 360 slow motion photo booth. Ripping a shirt in slow motion provides endless laughs.
